This email address is from my other site, but this way it is easier for me to monitor my correspondence.
Unfortunately, because of a spam problem, emails often have to be deleted merely on suspicion of them being a spam.
To make sure your email will not be deleted, you may want to take a few extra moments and to indicate the subject clearly, preferably using at least half-dozen words, something to make it look different, as compared to when subject headings are "made to fit" hundreds or even thousands of emails - "customer interested", "order department", "returned mail", "site issues", "comments about your site", "I was visiting your site...", "I need help from you..." and dozens of others.
It would be a pity to lose valuable correspondence, which happened to have a hastily written subject heading, resembling that of a spam mail.
If you would not get an answer in reasonable time, that was probably because I deleted your email on suspicion of being spam (short or unclear subject heading).
You may want to send it again in a week or two.
If you have been getting spam, then you know what kind of a nuisance it is!
Spammers are getting more and more brazen, they even use subject headings, which mimic automatically generated messages regarding undelivered or returned email.
It is hard to imagine that someone may go so low in order to push his advertisement through!
Anti-spam software is not a solution, in my opinion. I had several cases when email was returned with a message that it was rejected by anti-spam software. Apparently it detected some trigger-words.
Trying to detect the trigger words is a useless way to combat spam, as spammers have learned a long time ago how to defeat it.
For example, "free" is one of the top trigger-words, but the spam software will be looking for it in vain, if it is written as f*r*e*e or F-R-E-E or some other variation of it.
Now even the legitimate email, newsletters with information on Internet marketing, which are distributed through autoresponders by subscription only, have to be written in such a way as not to use the obvious trigger-words.
Some webmasters adopt rather drastic measures because of the spam problem.
I have seen webmasters requesting certain words to be entered into the subject heading for that email to be considered as legit.
This is an obvious measure to defeat email harvesting programs and mass email software.
In my opinion this is the most effective way of combating spam!
I do not go to such an extent yet, but I still have to implement certain measures to combat the nuisance of spam.
Attachments will not be opened, unless some prior arrangements have been made to that regard.
Unfortunately, such measures are dictated by experience.
An "odd" email name also makes it a bit more difficult for spammers, who are likely to assume that info@thatDomain is something they can safely shoot at.
The same applies to the name of this page. Spambots can obtain email address from the metatags, but on this site it is not made available; they can also be looking for a page named "contact(us/page)".
Because of the nature of the materials on this site, certain measures have been introduced against those who might decide to send offensive, abusive, hateful, derogatory, insulting and like email.
To combat such practices, this policy has been adopted:
All offensive email received by me becomes my property.
Potential senders of offensive mail are hereby advised that they may find their messages published on my abusive mail page.
Specifically, this means that the posting will also contain the full email transmission data, including the sender's email address.
Those who feel this a violation of their privacy, may want to restrain themselves.
